mel&mimi have known each other for over 40 years! As life took both away from home, all roads do lead back to Rome! As young women their paths would cross while Melanie worked at a local art gallery and Mimi a few doors down managing a women’s clothing department of another locally owned small business in Downtown, Rome. The opportunity to purchase an existing women’s boutique came their way and both felt that the time was right to begin a new venture!

In the Summer of 1997, mel&mimi was created. They moved to their historic Victorian home at 203 East 8th Street, in February of 2000. The foundation of mel&mimi comes from an intertwined DNA of women in all arenas of small business retail. Both of their mothers were involved as buyers, sellers and owners, as well as Mimi’s sister, which gave them the opportunity to learn first-hand from their legacies.

Small business proprietorship is truly in mel&mimi’s blood.

In the Summer of 2024, mel&mimi closed their brick and mortar, and began a new stylish season as they turned 27 years old!

Nowadays, you can find them in many different fashion facets including shopping social events, live on social media, shopping their online boutique and more!
